Peepingnews - Quote buffalonews.com, Less than 24 hours after a 75-year-old man was pushed to the ground outside City Hall by members of the Buffalo Police Department Emergency Response Team and a video of the incident in a protest attracting widespread criticism, the 57 team members resigned from the unit.
Mass resignations occurred after team members who responded to the riots and other mass control situations, were suspended without payment. Two law enforcement sources confirmed the resignation.
The unit cleared the area in Niagara Square during an emergency curfew, which came into effect as a result of protests over the death of George Floyd at the hands of a Minneapolis police officer, who had sailed through cities across the country. During Thursday's demonstration, an officer was seen on video, recorded by a WBFO reporter, pushing Martin Gugino from Amherst. Gugino fell to the ground, hit his head on the sidewalk, and was hospitalized.
